Visually ambitious dark fantasy, the first film to be made entirely using string puppets and marionettes. Young Prince Hal (voiced by James McAvoy) embarks on a perilous quest in order to avenge the murder of his father, the Emperor of Hebalon. As he travels, Hal is shocked to find that the land of Hebalon is not the peaceful, happy realm he had imagined, and that the people, devastated by years of war, rejoice in the news that the Emperor is dead. As Hal grows more bitter and resentful, he eventually finds solace in love and vows to restore the kingdom to the peace and harmony he had always imagined.
