Wilson Yip returns to direct Donnie Yen in this fourth instalment of the biographical martial arts series. Struggling to care for his son following his wife's death, the film follows grandmaster Ip Man (Yen) as he moves to San Francisco to enrol his son in university. There, he must come to the defence of his former student Bruce Lee (Kwok-Kwan Chan) who faces a backlash from the local martial arts community for opening his own Wing Chun school and instructing non-Chinese students.
