After kaiju destroy their town, Kafka Hibino (voice of Masaya Fukunishi) and Mina Ashiro (Asami Seto) are determined to become members of the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force and fight kaiju together. However, while Mina is successful and quickly becomes a skilled officer, Kafka is not and must work as part of the clean-up crew needed after battles. When he gains the ability to turn into a humanoid kaiju, he decides to apply to the JAKDF again but must keep his alternate form a secret.
